Powerpuff Girls Are Returning to Comics in July

The Powerpuff Girls aren’t just returning to Cartoon Network with the network launching a newly re-imagined animated series, but following the launch of the animated series IDW Publishing will be putting out a new comic book series! The comic book series will follow the new adventures of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup based on the animation revival.

The comic will act as an extension of the cartoon with staff writers Jake Goldman and Haley Mancini penning the series. Mancini also provides the voice talent for arch-villainess Princess Morebucks. Derek Charm rounds out the creative team on art duties.

The first issue will see the Powerpuff Girls forgotten and off the public’s radar. This make it the perfect time for arch nemesis Mojo Jojo to make a comeback and take the town by storm.

“The Powerpuff Girls and IDW – – a perfect combo!” says Powerpuff Girls editor Sarah Gaydos. “Look forward to more fun with the Girls, as Derek, Haley, and Jake take us back to the city of Townsville!

Powerpuff Girls #1 will feature a subscription variant by Paulina Ganucheau. There will also be retailer incentive covers that will feature cover art from a Powerpuff Girls animator. Powerpuff Girls #1 hits comic book shelves in July.
