Doctor Who’s David Tennant To Return As Kilgrave For Jessica Jones Season 2

Doctor Who’s David Tennant will return as the Purple Man, Kilgrave, for Netflix’s Jessica Jones Season 2.

This is quite a surprise as Tennant’s character was summarily killed off at the end of Season 1. Jessica Jones snaps his neck after she becomes immune to his pheromone powers that allowed him to control anyone he wanted with just his voice.

The revelation came that Tennant would be returning after Entertainment Weekly dropped a photo of him in his Purple Man outfit standing next to Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter.

Jessica Jones and Kilgrave

It’s unclear what Tennant’s exact role will be and if his character has somehow been resurrected. It’s possible, Kilgrave is still dead and he’s just mentally torturing Jessica Jones through flashbacks.

However, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Kilgrave to actually return from the dead. The Hand, who have been making their presence felt throughout the multiple Marvel Netflix shows are known for their resurrection prowess. In fact, there is an entire faction of The Hand called Hand’s Superhuman Army which are superhumans that were killed and resurrected by the Hand to serve as HYDRA assassins. There is actually already precedence for resurrection within the Marvel Netflx shows. In Season 2 of Daredevil, Nobu, the leader of the Hell’s Kitchen Yakuza and a member of the hand, is resurrected after he is burnt alive.

After Nobu is defeated again, Stick, Daredevil’s mentor, beheads him in order to prevent future resurrections.

It’s quite possible The Hand might be working their resurrection magic again either in Season 2 of Jessica Jones or in the upcoming The Defenders crossover show. Kilgrave’s neck might have been snapped, but he wasn’t beheaded.

How do you think they will use David Tennant’s Kilgrave? Will he appear in flashbacks or will he be resurrected?
