Charmed star and Dr. Doom from Fantastic Four, Julian McMahon, has officially joined the cast of Marvel’s Runaways.
Julian McMahon is the latest actor to give the comic book genre another try. You might remember his time as Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four movies during the mid-2000s. He even shared time in the movie with future Captain America Chris Evans who played the Human Torch aka Johnny Storm.
At this juncture, very little is known at this point about his role. What we do know right now is McMahon will be playing a character named Jonah. His origins, character role, and purpose on the show are still a mystery. McMahon’s character will play a crucial role in the Runaway’s rebellion against their parents.
Executive Producers and Showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage had this to say about Julian’s addition to the cast:
We’re incredibly excited to add Julian to our exceptional cast and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the world of Marvel’s Runaways,
Runaways is based on the Marvel Comics created by the award winning team of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona. The series won both Harvey and Eisner awards. The Young Adult Library Services Association also featured the series as one of the best books for young adults.
Runaways will see a group of teenagers discover their parents are super villains. They will have to overcome their dislike for each other in order to unite against their common foe – their parents.
Hulu will have exclusive rights to stream the series. This makes Hulu the latest service/network to house a Marvel project. The show will be available for streaming starting Tuesday, November 21st.
