New Flash Trailer Gives Us A Better Look At Samurai Villain! (VIDEO)

The CW and The Flash unveiled a new promo titled “Hero Reborn.”

The promo begins with a speedster flying down a highway and stopping a pick-up truck. It then cuts to a scene with a bearded Barry Allen lying in what appears to be a hospital bed with Iris telling him, “You’re home!”

Then the trailer kicks into high gear as a Samurai villain does a superhero landing. It’s unclear who the samurai villain is, but a number of theories suggest he is Baron Katana.

Baron Katana first appeared in The Flash #180 all the way back in June of 1968. He only lasted two issues with his last appearance being in The Flash #181 the next month. He was created by Frank Robbins and Ross Andru. During his two issue run, Baron Katana attempted to create an army of robotic Samuroids to take over Japan. The Flash and his team are easily able to defeat Baron Katana by shorting out the Samuroids’ power source.

Flash Samuroids

While Baron Katana hasn’t appeared in a DC Comic since then, his creations have. In fact, they were recently featured in Batman #21 during “The Button” crossover arc between Batman and The Flash. The Flash is fighting a number of the Samuroids when Batman calls him for assistance.

The promo then jumps between scenes as Cisco tells bearded Barry, “I made you a new suit.” However, Samurai quickly becomes the centerpiece as he appears to kidnap Iris.

Then all of a sudden Barry’s eyes light up with the Speed Force and he goes into hyper-speed. He’s so fast you can’t see him at all. But it doesn’t even look like the Barry we know. Instead it looks like future Barry who lost Iris to Savitar.
