X-Men: First Class Director Matthew Vaughn Confirms Talks for Man of Steel Sequel!

Will he or won’t he?
While promoting his upcoming film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Matthew Vaughn reveals he’s had conversations regarding Superman’s film future.
HeyUguys asked Vaughn about his possible involvement in the film. Avoiding specifics, he responded in typically coy fashion.
I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman… If somebody asks me to do Indiana Jones, most of the superheroes or Star Wars the fanboy in me can’t help but be excited.
This is great news for any comic book or film fan. Vaughn has an excellent track record with bringing comic book adaptations to life. Only one of his films isn’t comic book related, a Guy Ritchie-inspired movie called Layer Cake. Vaughn is also famous for having teamed with Mark Millar on several projects. The two have brought a couple comic worlds to life now, and will continue with this falls’ Kingsman sequel.
In addition to his fanboy origins, the British Director has an impeccable filmography. His first feature famously nabbed its’ star, Daniel Craig, the little-known role of James Bond. He followed that up with Stardust, a wonderfully whimsical take on Neil Gaiman’s book of the same name. However, 2011 would be the year he successfully re-defined an entire franchise for a new age.
Trust the Golden Midas touch
After the embarrassments that were X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox sought a revamp for their many mutants. Bryan Singer was more than happy to answer the call, but Warner Bros. famously kept Singer from leaving Jack the Giant Slayer for the reboot. Fox then found their man in Matthew Vaughn. With praise from Millar, and 2010’s Kick-Ass under his belt, he was an inspired choice for the job.
The success of First Class completely revamped the X-Men for a new generation. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender would go on to star in at least 2 more sequels as Xavier and Magneto. While other casting choices like Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, and January Jones have received harsh criticism, McAvoy and Fassbender have been enough to keep the franchise above water.
Man of Tomorrow
Vaughn is the only director to have ever rebooted a superhero franchise without actually rebooting it. The connectivity between multiple generations of X-Men is thanks to the deft hands of Matthew Vaughn. He was able to breathe fresh air and charm into a franchise that was near death. That sounds like exactly what Superman needs to retake his place as the greatest superhero of all time.
It’s time for Henry Cavill to have the Superman film his performance deserves. It’s time for Matthew Vaughn to, once again, sink his teeth into one of the true comic book elites.
When it comes to the heartfelt, charming Superman sequel the fans deserve. The time is now.
