New Avengers 4 Set Photos of Jeremy Renner Tease Ronin

Ronin

A number of rumors have spread that Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton would be dropping the Hawkeye persona and taking up the mantle of Ronin for Avengers 4.

New photos from the set appear to confirm this theory.

If you look closely at these photos you can see a black and gold costume peeking out from behind Renner’s coat. In fact, if you look at his legs you will notice big knee pads with gold trim.

Here’s Ronin’s look from the comics:

The costumes definitely look similar.

What Does This Mean?

In the comics, Ronin was originally the heroine Echo. However, Clint Barton took up the roll when he discovers the New Avengers and accompanies them on a mission to rescue the original Ronin.

But the reason why Barton becomes Ronin in the first place is because he died and was later resurrected by Dr. Strange without any of his past memories. But before he becomes Ronin, he takes on the mantle of Captain America after his death in “Civil War.” In fact, Tony Stark gives him Captain America’s shield and costume. Clint’s time as Captain America is short-lived once he discovers what really happened in Civil War. Clint condemns Stark’s role in Civil War and returns Captain America’s shield and costume. Following his condemnation of Stark, Clint returns to Dr. Strange to discover the New Avengers. He dons the Ronin outfit to hide his true identity and joins the team.

As Ronin, Clint shows he’s not only proficient with the bow and arrow, but also with various other melee weapons including the samurai sword.

More Evidence

Along with these on set photos, Renner himself teased a brand new haircut for Clint Barton.

With more and more evidence piling up that Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton will become Ronin it fuels the theory that Thanos will definitely kill a number of the Avengers before reality is reset. Not all of the Avengers will survive and it’s highly likely Captain America will die in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4. What do you think will happen?
