Wolverine to Star in First Ever Marvel Scripted Podcast ‘Wolverine: The Long Night’

Wolverine: The Long Night

Marvel revealed a new partnership with the podcast service Stitcher that will see Wolverine star in the first-ever Marvel scripted podcast, Wolverine: The Long Night.

The series will run for 10 episodes beginning in the Spring of 2018 and will be exclusively on Stitcher Premium until Fall 2018. After that it will be released across all podcast platforms.

Wolverine: The Long Night will be a combination between mystery and the fantasy of the Marvel Universe. It follows the story of agents Sally Mitchell and Tad Marshall as they investigate a series of murders in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska. The two quickly learn the town’s residents live in fear of a serial killer. They join forces with deputy Bobby Reid to investigate their main suspect, Wolverine. As they continue their investigation they will discover the secrets of the mysterious and corrupt town.

The series stars Richard Armitage as Wolverine, Celia Kennan-Bolger as Sally Pierce, Ato Essandoh as Tad Marshall and Andrew Kennan-Bolger as Bobby Reid. The show will also star Bob Babalan, Scott Adsit, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Zoe Chao, Chaske Spencer, Jordan Bridges, David Call, Michael J. Burg, Lannon Killa, and the host of Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People Chris Gethard.

‘Wolverine: The Long Night brings our fans a whole new way to experience our iconic characters and the Marvel Universe,” said Dan Silver, vice president, head of platforms and content for Marvel New Media. “This tremendous cast will bring a thrilling level of intrigue and drama to our listeners. The character of Logan and this landscape make it the ideal premiere vehicle for us, and we’re excited to continue to explore the dynamic possibilities of the podcast medium.”

Wolverine: The Long Night goes all out to provide listeners with an authentic experience. They recorded outdoor scenes to capture realistic-sounding locations in forests and cabins. They also plan to record scenes in an ambisonic studio that allows the actors to move around and interact with each other. It also allows them to fully immerse themselves in their characters.

“Podcasting is an incredible, intimate medium that’s perfect for telling stories, and I can’t think of a better partner with whom to push the boundaries of scripted podcasts than Marvel,” said Erik Diehn, CEO of Midroll Media, a podcast industry leader and the parent company of Stitcher. “They make every translation of their rich universe of characters into new media fresh and interesting while still retaining the feel and spirit of the original comics, and, as a Marvel fan, I’m proud that we’ve helped them do it again in podcasting. The arrival of Wolverine and his many fans to podcasts and Stitcher is truly a signal that this medium is a major part of the American media landscape.”

Wolverine: The Long Night is written by comic book veteran Ben Percy and will be directed by Brendan Baker. Chloe Prasinos will oversee sound design. The show will be produced by Daniel Fink of Marvel and Jenny Radelet of Stitcher,
