Dark Knight trilogy actor Gary Oldman wants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He made a pitch on the red carpet for Marvel to give him a call.

Oldman, who played James Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, spoke to People on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards expressing his interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Marvel hasn’t called me. But now that you mentioned it, if they’re tuning in, my son wants me to!”

Oldman would not be the first actor to make the jump from a DC Comics-based movie to a Marvel Comics one. If he does the make jump, he would join a list of actors who’ve made the leap. Ryan Reynolds who first appeared as Hal Jordan in Green Lantern has become the quintessential Merc with the Mouth, Deadpool. Michael Keaton, who donned the cape and cowl of Batman in the late 80s, most recently joined Marvel in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Josh Brolin starred in DC Comics’ Jonah Hex before becoming Thanos and Cable! Michael Fassbender also appeared in Jonah Hex as Burke before becoming Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Djimon Hounsou appeared in Constantine before becoming Korath, a primary antagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy. Tommy Lee Jones was Two-Face in Batman Forever before becoming Colonel Chester Phillips in Captain America: The First Avengers.

Gary Oldman would make a great edition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s an award-winning actor including Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. He also won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture for Darkest Hour.

The possibility of Oldman landing a MCU role were definitely bolstered with Disney’s acquisition of Fox. It opens up the Fantastic Four and X-Men catalog.

I could definitely see Oldman taking on the role of Doctor Otto Octavius aka Doc Ock or maybe Nathaniel Essex aka Nathaniel Essex.

What Marvel character do you think would be a good fit for Gary Oldman?
