WATCH: Tom Hardy is Venom in the First Official Teaser Trailer!

Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy is front and center in Sony Pictures first official teaser trailer for Venom!

Watch:

There’s a lot packed into this one minute and thirty second clip for the upcoming Venom movie. It starts out with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock laying in a hospital bed. Then we see a man running through a building, then a quick glimpse of Brock flying through on-coming traffic in a motorcycle. Then there’s a scene where he raises his hand, before it cuts to another scene where an SUV goes flying into the air while Brock flees on his motorcycle. And that’s just the first five seconds!

We then get a voice over, “Everyone’s got their thing. Maybe it’s a breakup, a death, an accident. Whatever it is. You used to be one thing. Now you are something else. We all have our own problems, our own issues, our own demons.”

As the voice over plays the words tie into key moments and characters. When we hear breakup, we get a shot of Michelle Williams’ Ann Weying, Eddie Brock’s ex-wife in the comics. A death shows us a person unwrapping what appear to be chopped up body parts on a slab. It’s possible this refers to one of Venom’s early kills. Since we know the film will be based on Venom: Lethal Protector, this death could be what causes Eddie Brock to be hunted.

Then we get the accident. It’s a massive scene out in a forest. There are a number of emergency vehicles and flood lights. It’s more than likely this accident is how the Venom symbiote arrives on Earth.

We then get another shot of Hardy’s Brock laid up in a hospital bed, completely unconscious. He then suddenly awakes.

A few moments later we finally get our first look at the Venom symbiote as it thrives in a sealed container in the back of a truck.

Unfortunately, we don’t actually get to see Tom Hardy as Venom in the teaser trailer. It’s probably for the best. It keeps up wanting more!

What I found the most interesting about this trailer is it doesn’t feel like a super hero movie at all. It’s much more personal. Eddie Brock is visibly haunted. There’s even a tinge of horror and plenty of suspense in the trailer. I really like this vibe and can’t wait to see Venom when it comes to theaters on October 5, 2018.
