Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth is in the twilight of his time starring as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He only has two major appearances left on his contract with Marvel which include Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. It’s got many people wondering what could be next for the superstar actor.

Australian morning show Sunrise interviewed Hemsworth and asked him about his future and whether he would be interested in becoming the next James Bond.

Hemsworth revealed he would be interested in the role, but felt there were other people, specifically English men and women, who would be more suited for the role.

Yeah. Look. Any actor would jump at that opportunity. I’m certainly a fan. A whole lot of pressure comes with that, though. I think the Bond fan base is probably more critical than the comic book fanbase. But I don’t know, there’s plenty of guys that would do a better job than I would. Plenty of English men or women that could probably take over that one.

Sunrise host David Koch didn’t like that answer saying, “Nah. Hang on. Australians have already been dumped from 007 after one movie. We need a comeback. Have they talked to you about it.”

Hemsworth responds, “I’ll give it a shot. You can help me with the campaign. There you go.”

Samantha Armytage then presses him, “Have the Bond producers approached your agents?”

Hemsworth replies, “No, no, no, no. I still think they are making more with Daniel Craig. I feel like it’s sort of an English world. As you say, one Australian had a shot a few years ago. I don’t know. I don’t know.”

Hemsworth is right. They are making another James Bond film with Daniel Craig. And Australian George Lazenby starred as James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Hemsworth isn’t the only actor who is suggesting the James Bond franchise move away from a white, male Bond. Idris Elba, who many wanted to see become Bond, has openly expressed interest in seeing James Bond become a woman as well. James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is also on record to be open to changes to Ian Fleming’s character.

Do you agree with Hemsworth? Would you want a woman to become James Bond? Or would you be interested in seeing Hemsworth become James Bond?
