You might remember about two weeks ago we wrote about Greatest American Hero getting the reboot treatment. Now we officially have the word of who will be starring. According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Girl actress Hannah Simone will be wearing the cape in the upcoming reboot.

Some of you might remember Hannah from Fox’s New Girl, where she applied her craft for seven seasons on the comedy. She has also done a few films such as Old Boy, Killing Flock of Dudes, and Band Aid.

The show is currently still in the early development phase with Fresh Off the Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan leading the charge. The show already received a pilot order from ABC which will, depending on results, turn into a season order.

The reboot will follow Meera (Hannah Simone), a 30-year-old Cleveland woman who is great at drinking tequila and singing karaoke, but not much else. Her life changes when aliens give her a super suit and entrust the protection of Earth to her. The show is expected to differ from the original programming which starred William Katt. This new version will be a 30 minute comedy instead of an hour long drama.

The show will be written by Rachna Fruchbom. She will also serve as an executive producer alongside Khan. They will be joined by Mandy Summers and the daughter of the original series creator Stephen J. Cannell’s daughter, TV director Tawnia McKiernan. The show will be produced via 20th Century Fox Television under Khan’s Fierce Baby banner. However, ABC Studios will also serve as a co-producer.

Currently, that is all we know of the reboot. Though some questions have popped into my mind.

Is ABC risking superhero fatigue? Last year’s Inhumans left many fans straining and that show had the Marvel banner attached to it! Not only that it’s possible audiences might be getting superhero fatigue with the onslaught of comic book related TV shows and movies.

Whatever the case may be, I suspect if this makes it to TV we’ll see it either this coming Fall or premiering mid-season 2019.

What do you think? Did a barely remembered 80s show need the reboot treatment? Tell us in the comments below!
