Marvel Seemingly Spoils Their Infinity Countdown Story With New Poster

Thanos

Marvel Comics currently has a huge cosmic event happening in their Infinity Countdown series by Gerry Duggan, Aaron Kuder, Mike Hawthorne, Terry Pallot, and Jordie Bellaire. Practically everyone in the Marvel Universe is hunting for the Infinity Stones. We’ve already seen a number of them pass hands multiple times including the Soul Stone, the Power Stone, and the Space Stone.

The big mystery is that at the end of Infinity Countdown and their upcoming series Infinity Wars, the Marvel Universe looks to be on its knees at Infinity’s End. Kang the Conqueror showed Adam Warlock a vision of the future where someone stands above the rest of the Marvel Universe.

Infinity's End

However, Marvel just sent us a brand new promo image for Infinity Wars Prime where it looks like they are revealing who is going to win the race to collect the Infinity Stones.

The new image promotes what appears to be a one shot leading into their upcoming Infinity Wars series called Infinity Wars Prime. This apparent one shot will be written by Infinity Countdown scribe Gerry Duggan with artwork by one of Marvel’s best Mike Deodato Jr. However, as you can see below the image clearly says Thanos Wins. Now, the most obvious thing is that Thanos will gather the Infinity Stones and win. He is the character casting the shadow at Infinity’s End. However, the saying also could be a reference to Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s most recent Thanos story arc which was titled “Thanos Wins.” Either way it appears Thanos will once again become a major player in the Marvel Universe after he was plagued with disease and then time traveled into the distant future.

Thanos Wins

This isn’t the only image, Marvel shared with us concerning their upcoming Summer event. They also sent us another piece of teaser art by Frank Martin which reads Death Incarnate. It then asks the question, “Who is Requiem?”

I’m not going to lie, I think the character design looks absolutely fantastic. And I’ll be the first to say I don’t have any idea who this character could be, but my initial reaction just looking at the cover makes me think this could be another son of Thanos. But not only could they be the son of Thanos, but also the son of Death. If Thanos has truly won, he’s finally achieved the affection of Death and it’s quite possible they conceived and birthed a son, who is now here to destroy the Marvel Universe.

Who do you think Requiem is? What do you make of these teaser posters? Do you think the Thanos Wins one gives too much away for Infinity Countdown?
