The Boy Wonder from Baywatch

Nightwing will one day make his debut on the big screen. In fact, The Lego Movie co-director and sole director of The Lego Batman Movie, Chris McKay, is making it! Not much is known about the project, and it seems to be taking a while to come together. That’s a good thing though! Most blockbusters get rushed these days, looking at you Justice League. Taking extra time to create a film like Nightwing will help to ensure it’s great. While there hasn’t been much news lately, there have been plenty of rumors.

One of the most talked-about subjects is the star. Just who is going to play Dick Grayson, the first Robin? There are plenty of actors who would be great for the part.  But one name has been cropping up a lot lately. A name that most fans are probably not happy with.

Zac Efron.

The High School Musical star has recently been attached to the role. Some of the rumors suggest his deal as Nightwing is already set in stone. So, it came as no surprise that a fan asked McKay if this was true.

However, his response isn’t exactly definitive.

“Not true.” That isn’t a no. The exact comment McKay addressed was, “I’ve heard that Zac Efron was confirmed as Nightwing.” Saying that it isn’t true that he isn’t confirmed is not the same thing as saying Efron isn’t going to play the character. Efron is a young, popular actor. One who isn’t afraid of prepping for his roles. That is something that will be required of Dick Grayson.

Anyone who’s seen Neighbors and it’s sequel knows Efron doesn’t take himself too seriously these days. He is kind of funny; he can be charming. Maybe, he could be Nightwing.

What do you think?
