Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been attached to Black Adam since 2014 when he announced he would play the character on Twitter.

There hasn’t been much movement to see him as Black Adam on the big screen. He was rumored to appear in the Shazam! film in the beginning, but that didn’t pan out. The most recent rumor sees the character being a pivotal plot piece in the Suicide Squad sequel. However, it appears we might actually get that solo movie sooner rather than later according to “The Rock.”

While promoting his most recent project, Skyscraper, Dwayne Johnson spoke with Film Starts where he gave an update on when Black Adam will begin filming.

“With Black Adam I don’t think we are going to start early next year. Early next year, right now, it looks like I’m going to be shooting Jumanji. And then after that if everything goes well, I’ll shoot a movie called Red Notice with Rawson Thurber, with Gal Gadot, and another actor yet to be named. But Black Adam possibly at the end of next year. It’s coming along great. The script is coming along great. I’m very happy with it. It’s a really interesting time right now with Warner Bros. and DC as they revamp and kind of restrategize and reorganize internally and their vision. It’s an exciting time for those guys and to be a part of that, it’s exciting.”

When asked if he might star in another film with Gal Gadot featuring Wonder Woman and Black Adam he teased potential cameos for the first solo film:

“Well, I mean the goal since the universe all collides. That’s the great thing about DC and Black Adam. Without giving anything away there might be maybe a cameo or two of some of the other DC superheroes. We’ll see. That’s been the beauty of Black Adam as we’ve been developing it. We could have made a movie that just stood on its own too as well, but that’s also the beauty of those universes coming together at DC.”

Who would you want to see cameo in the Black Adam solo movie? The most obvious choice is Shazam, but could we also see Batman or Superman show up as well? What about Wonder Woman?
