Star Wars and Batman legend Mark Hamill, who has endeared himself to fans in his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise and his phenomenal voice acting skills as the Joker in [easyazon_link identifier=”B07FSRBWXK” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: The Animated Series[/easyazon_link] and beyond, called for President Donald Trump’s star to be replaced by Carrie Fisher. Fisher co-starred with Hamill in the original Star Wars trilogy. The two also appeared for a brief moment on-screen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The West Hollywood Council recently voted to remove President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, The Guardian reports Trump’s star isn’t actually in West Hollywood. In fact, the West Hollywood Council doesn’t have any authority on whether it can remove Trump’s star.

The Guardian’s Andrew Gumbel explains:

“While the resolution, passed unanimously, offered a laundry list of Trump’s sins – everything from his treatment of women to his separation of immigrant families at the border – it could do no more than urge the relevant authorities, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the city of Los Angeles, to do what it could not.”

The unanimous vote by the council came after the star has been publicly vandalized twice since Donald Trump began campaigning for President of the United States. One of the vandals, Austin Clay faces up to three years in prison for his actions. He not only destroyed the star with a pick axe, but his actions created a brawl at Trump’s star.

Reactions to the vote were mixed.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce had previously told activists who were trying to remove Trump, Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby, and Brett Ratner’s stars, “Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”

A petition for Carrie Fisher to get her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is also making the rounds.

Do you like Mark Hamill’s idea of replacing President Donald Trump’s star with one for Carrie Fisher? Would you like to see Carrie Fisher get her own star?
