Doom is one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. It tells the story of a space marine fighting off endless legions of demons. The franchise has churned out multiple game titles over the decades. It even spawned a major motion picture starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Karl Urban. Doom bombed only grossing just under $56 million on a $60 million production budget.

However, it wasn’t without its merits as it included a first person shooter scene:

The franchise had a resurgence in 2016 when id Software and Bethesda Softworks launched Doom. The game won Best Action Game at the The Game Awards 2016. The game sold more than 2 million copies on PC alone by July 2017. It also sold over 2 million on PlayStation 4.

With the success of the new Doom game, Universal decided to once again adapt it to film.

Director Tony Giglio took some time out of his day to answer a fan question and inform fans that at least one iconic monster from the franchise will not be appearing in the upcoming remake.

For those who don’t know what the Spiderdemon looks like. Here is a photo of it from the 2016 Doom game.

Spiderdemon Doom

Yeah, I wouldn’ want to run into that thing ever. So we know that Spiderdemon won’t be making the nightmarish events of the new Doom reboot even worse for the space marine.

But don’t expect Doom to be coming to theaters any time soon. Variety reported that the film is being handled by Universal 1440 Entertainment “which produces live-action and animated non-theatrical productions. directly for distribution in all media worldwide.” That means this new Doom will most likely be a direct-to-DVD release or could land on a streaming service like Netflix.

The film will star actress and singer Nina Bergman.

Along with the upcoming film, the franchise will also be rolling out a new video game in Doom Eternal.

Would you have liked to have seen the Spiderdemon in this upcoming film?
