Netflix and DreamWorks Drop She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Trailer

She-Ra

Netflix and Dreamworks TV dropped their first teaser trailer for the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Watch it right here:

The trailer begins with a voice shouting, “Adora!” That’s when Adora responds, “Who are you? What’s going on?” The voice, who is most likely supposed to be The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, tells her, “Balance must be restored. You do not yet realize the power you have. The time has come to show you, your destiny.” Adora exclaims, “You are not making any sense. I don’t understand.” The Sorceress responds, “You will.” Adora concludes the trailer shouting, “For the Honor of Grayskull!”

While we hear the voice overs we get clips of Adora and her sword being seen through a sword similar to the mirror used by The Queen in Snow White. There’s a very typical King Arthur allusion as She-Ra’s as yet unclaimed Sword of Protection lies strangled in the ground by a number of vines. Eventually, Adora is about to grab the sword and trailer shifts to a transformation sequence as Adora becomes She-Ra.

What’s interesting about the transformation sequence is it really focuses on She-Ra’s blonde hair. It’s almost like an ad for Loreal.

Not only does it look like a Loreal ad, but it also has her floating in space during the transformation like a Super Saiyan transformation. This is very different from the original transformation which sees She-Ra channel the power of Grayskull with the castle in the background. The castle then transitions to a blow-up of her sword as she channels the power. Radiant light emanates from She-Ra as she gains the power of the Sword of Protection.

None of that is really present in the reboot of the series. In fact, She-Ra doesn’t even wield the sword during the transformation. She only grabs it after she has fully transformed.

What do you think of this new trailer? Will you be tuning into She-Ra and the Princesses of Power when it hits Netflix on November 16, 2018.
