New Report Indicates Henry Cavill and Superman Split Was BOGUS!

Superman

Unless you were living under a rock or taking a much-needed rest from social media then you know all too well about the report that Warner Bros. and Henry Cavill had split ways. It was such a crazy day the studio along with the actors’ agent had to release a statement to address the situation. Warner Bros. didn’t make a statement one way or the other.

And that’s not even all of it! The Man of Steel himself didn’t help things when he posted a cryptic Instagram post that only raised even more questions!

Now a new report from TMZ indicates the whole split between Warner Bros. and Henry Cavill is BOGUS!

TMZ declares the whole thing was an “invented conflict.” They elaborate that their sources tell them, “there’s no real discussion over the main role because there’s no active ‘Superman’ project.”

However, the report does indicate that Cavill felt he was underpaid for his role as Superman.

TMZ’s report goes on to indicate this whole thing started because Cavill turned down a cameo in Shazam! over money. THR’s report from yesterday indicated Cavill and Warner Bros. weren’t able to make a deal due to a scheduling conflict.

The whole situation was compounded when people believed Cavill was out because he took on the lead role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s upcoming The Witcher series.

But maybe the biggest kernel from the TMZ report indicates that while Cavill and Warner Bros. haven’t split, if there does happen to be a new Superman project in the works, Cavill would have to compete for the role with actors.

In fact, the whole thing might have been started by Cavill and his team which includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s ex-wife Dany Garcia, who helped turn the WWE star into a household and an absolute mega Hollywood star.

Cavill and Garcia might have put out the leaks in order to show Warner Bros. just how devoted fans are to Cavill’s portrayal of Superman. If TMZ’s report is true about Cavill being unsatisfied about his pay, this could be used as a bargaining chip to get a pay bump in the future. It could also potentially kickstart a new Superman project.

This isn’t an unheard of tactic. Leaked footage from [easyazon_link identifier=”B01BHDEZEA” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Deadpool[/easyazon_link] allegedly got 20th Century Fox to finally greenlight the film. And the result was a massive success with Deadpool hauling in over $783 million in worldwide grosses

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld explains:

“I had meetings on the Fox lot that following week [after the footage leaked], and that Deadpoolfootage was all the buzz. It had an impact. You could see it and feel it in the executive suites. It was palatable.

I absolutely believe that the leaked footage served as one of those signature moments when fandom united across all social media platforms and made their voices heard. Can you imagine if the masses had disapproved of the footage? In this ruthless take down culture … it could have been ugly. Fortunately for all involved, it broke on the overwhelmingly positive side. It was a tidal wave of unbridled enthusiasm.”

Could this jump start a Man of Steel sequel? What do you think? Were we a part of a power move by Team Cavill? Was this all a stunt? Or did we all read too much into it? Let me know what you all think in the comments!
