Star Wars: Shadow of Vader Miniseries To Be Written By Chuck Wendig

In the wake of the announcement that Marvel’s Star Wars: Darth Vader series will end this December with issue #25, Marvel assured fans at a panel during New York City Comic-Con that this is not the end of the Sith Lord’s comic book adventures, revealing that author Chuck Wending will be penning a new Darth Vader miniseries.

Star Wars: Shadow of Vader was announced at the New York Comic Con during the ‘Star Wars Publishing Panel’. These two covers were presented as a teaser to the many fans in attendance.

Chuck Wending, author of the Aftermath trilogy of Star Wars novels, Marvel’s Hyperion and the comic book adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was announced as the writer of the upcoming miniseries, Star Wars: Shadows of Vader. This miniseries will run for five-issues and, instead of focusing on Lord Vader himself, will instead be told from the perspective of a rotating cast of characters and the ramifications and impact the Sith Lord’s presence has had on the galaxy and its peoples. For example, one story will feature a mortician inspecting a recent victim of Darth Vader’s, and another will focus on the members of the Dark Side cult known as the Acolytes of the Beyond, the members of which worship the Sith.

This announcement came one day before Wendig went on a bizarre, profanity-laden rant that called for incivility against people who support Donald Trump due to the recent confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court (a rant which was openly criticized, along with Wendig himself, by comic book fans and the general public). This is not the first time Wendig has invited controversy, as he has previously labeled unsatisfied Star Wars fans as White Supremacists and threatened to sue a satirical website over a t-shirt that used his image in parody. In fact, this is not the first time Wendig has taken to Twitter to express his outrage and hatred for the Republican party, as he went on a similar rant in June of this year.

At this time, neither Disney nor Marvel has issued a statement on Wendig’s recent divisive and dismissive rant. Wendig is still set to write the upcoming mini-series, with Juanan Ramirez providing the artwork, which will debut in January.
