A new theory indicates that Riri Williams aka Ironheart could show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the forthcoming Avengers 4.

The theory stems from the fact that Disney and Marvel Studios had commissioned a script for an Iron Heart film. The script was written by Jada Rodriguez and was featured on The Black List Twitter back in July. The Black List showcases popular unmade screenplays.

The idea that Ironheart could show up in Avengers stems from theories and facts surrounding Marvel’s Phase 4. Marvel Cinematic Universe mastermind and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has stated that the studio’s plan for Phase 4 will include “different incarnations of characters we know.” He specifically pointed towards Ms. Marvel saying, “We wanted to get Captain Marvel out there first so that there is something for a young Muslim girl to get inspired by.” However, he doesn’t rule out Ironheart.

Future Timeline or Alternate Universe

In fact, It’s quite possible that Ironheart could either show up in a future timeline during Avengers 4 or in an alternate universe. Reports back in April indicated that 16-year old Emma Fuhrmann was cast as Cassie Lang. Lang is currently played by 10 year-old Abby Ryder Fortson. Fuhrmann added fuel to the fire in a now deleted Tweet where she asked, “Ready to assemble????” She’s also been seen teasing an Avengers role posing with an Avengers bottle.

If they are including an older version of Cassie Lang, it’s quite possible they would also include Riri Williams, who is a 15-year old. It’s possible they might even cameo a MCU version of the Champions. The comic book team consisted of Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales, Nova, Amadeus Cho, Viv Vision, Nadia Van Dyne, Snowguard, Cyclops, and Ironheart. I could easily see Feige and Marvel Studios revealing Ms. Marvel, Stature (Cassandra Lang), Ironheart, Nova, and Amadeus Cho as a a new Champions team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future.

Avengers 4 Time Jump

There have been rumors that Avengers 4 would involve a significant time jump after Avengers: Infinity War. If so, it’s possible we could see a time jump of 6 to 8 years. It would allow Cassie to grow up and introduce these new heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Riri Williams could have also become an efficient mechanic and engineer using the September Foundation Grant to perfect her craft. She might have become even more inspired if she lost a family member due to Thanos’ snap.

Marvel has gone out of their way to really push these characters in the comics as well as in animation and video games. It’s not too far of a leap to see them bring them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
