John Cena Hints at Captain America Role in Crytpic Instagram Post

WWE Hall of Famer John Cena recently hinted that he could become the next Captain America in a cryptic post on Instagram.

Cena, who will be starring in the upcoming Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, took to Instagram to post Captain America’s shield with five claw marks scratched across it.

Much like his former opponent in the ring, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Cena has launched a lucrative film career. He’s starred in a number of different roles including 12 Rounds, TrainwreckDaddy’s Home, Blockers, The Marine, and the animated film Ferdinand. His biggest role will most likely come in the Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee, where he hopes to rejuvenate the franchise much like Dwayne The Rock Johnson did with the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Cena is no stranger to Marvel. He provided the voice for The Hulk in the mobile game Marvel Avengers Academy.

While the post definitely puts Captain America’s shield front and center, it also has those five claw marks. It’s possible Cena might not be hinting at a Captain America role, but another role entirely. He could be teasing Sabretooth or even Wendigo with Disney now acquiring the X-Men characters and looking forward to incorporating them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, it’s more than likely this post doesn’t mean anything. Cena’s Instagram is full of image that range from funny to bizarre. In fact, he prefaces any image he posts: “These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.”

Cena has previously posted images referencing Doctor Doom, The Watchmen, Superman, and more. After Cena posted his Watchmen photo, rumors sparked that he might be involved in the upcoming HBO show. Those rumors amounted to nothing.

Nevertheless, graphic artist Boss Logic had some fun with the potential rumor.

Would you want to see John Cena become the next Captain America? Would you want to see him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? If so, what character do you think he could take on?
