The Last Guardian Returns with New Trailer

The Last Guardian made a surprise debut as Sony kicked off their E3 presentation.

The game features a young boy and his pet Trico, a giant hybrid bird-dog. The two will work together to solve puzzles in order to evade shadow-being guards or progress further in the game. The puzzles are rooted in the world and focus on platforming. In the trailer, we see the young boy push a giant evil eye statue off the platform it is sitting on. By pushing the evil eye off the platform, the boy is able to advance further because Trico had refused to move past the eye. The eye appeared to frighten him. Not only will you have to solve platforming puzzles, but you have to be quick with your reactions because your actions may cause the world to come crumbling down around you! Make sure you have an escape route planned.

The Last Guardian has been in development since 2007 and was originally planned to be released on the PlayStation 3 in 2011. However, it has suffered a number of setbacks, the most prominent being the departure of the designer and director, Fumito Ueda, from Sony’s employ. He still contracts as a consultant for the game.

The Last Guardian is being developed by Team Ico, the developers behind [easyazon_link identifier=”B0009I6S0O” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”bounintocomi-20″ cart=”y” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]Shadow of the Colossus[/easyazon_link] and [easyazon_link identifier=”B00004YUWA” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”bounintocomi-20″ cart=”y” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]Ico[/easyazon_link]. It will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment and hopefully available for purchase sometime in 2016 for the PlayStation 4.
