The book follows the story of Grue, a creature who lurks deep beneath the waves and feasts on lusty beachgoers. However, he has decided to resist their enticing hormones when he discovers love through Shakespeare’s plays hidden in cola bottles. While his first attempt at love and companionship on the surface does not end well, Grue sets out to find the person responsibe for tossing the plays into the sea. He discovers Giulietta and finds love, but his wicked past is quickly catching up to him. Will Grue choose to become a new man and ignore the monster he was?
