New Politically Charged Series ‘Calexit’ Aims To #Resist

Black Mask Studios with writer Matteo Pizzolo and artist Amancay Nahuelpan are bringing another politically charged comic series, Calexit, to stands this May.
Calexit aims to capture the #Resist and #NotMyPresident political movements in comic book form by telling a story of California resisting a democratically elected fascist, autocratic President. In fact, this President lost the state of California by almost 3.5 million votes nearly a 2-to-1 margin. And the people of California aren’t going to let him rule over them. They take to the streets in massive protests and shutdown two of the largest international airports in California’s LAX and SFO.
The President ignores their protestations and signs an executive order to deport all immigrants. In response, California declares itself a Sanctuary State.
Well, the President responds by instituting martial law. That’s where the series picks up. After a year of martial law in Occupied Los Angeles, Calexit will follow along with Jamil, a 25-year old courier and Zora, a 27-year old leader of the Pacific Coast Sister Cities Resistance. The two meet in a prison camp in Occupied Los Angeles where they escape together.
