Cast Photo Kicks Off The Han Solo Star Wars Story As Principal Photography Begins!

The as of yet unnamed Han Solo anthology film officially began principal photography on February 20th according to Lucasfilm. As with every single Star Wars film, the principal photography is taking place at Pinewood Studios, London.

The announcement coincided with a cast photo which includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca and others on board the Millennium Falcon.

According to a press release from Disney and Lucasfilm, the plot will follow “the adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee. The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.”

The screen play was penned by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan. It will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Along with Ehrenreich, Suotamo, and Donald Glover, it will also star Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clark. Their roles in the movie are currently a mystery.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller noted in the release. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”

The movie will also see a number of veterans on the back end including Neal Scanlan (Creature & Droid FX Creative Supervisor), Neil Lamont (Production Designer), Dave Crossman and Glyn Dillion (Co-Costume Designers), Jamie Wilkinson (Prop Master), Lisa Tomblin (Hair), Amanda Knight (Make-Up), and Nina Gold (UK Casting Director).

It is expected to be released on May 25, 2018.
