New Terminator Movie Finds Their Sarah Connor and More!

After over twenty years it seems the stars are aligning!

Linda Hamilton will return to the Terminator franchise after 25 years away. Hamilton will take on her role as one of the strongest female heroines to ever exist, Sarah Connor. To this day Connor is considered to be the foundation for many heroine roles.

Hamilton starred in the very first Terminator film, The Terminator in 1984. It was a low-budget affair that turned out to be the incubator for one of the strongest movie franchises in history.

Hamilton will be joining James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger as filming begins next March. Cameron broke the news at a private event celebrating the franchise. He said:

As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.

In relation to her age. Cameron is hoping to make a new statement on gender roles within the action film world:

There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.

Terminator

This to me is a nod to the wildly successful The Expendables series of movies that brought together older action heroes. Showing that even with age, you can still kick ass. With Linda Hamilton’s return, it seems like we have a full lineup. This will be the first time all three creative giants, Cameron, Schwarzenegger, and Hamilton will be working together since 1991. They will be joined by Deadpool director Tim Miller to breathe new life into the Terminator franchise.

James Cameron has an interesting perspective on what he’s doing with the characters after bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger and LindaHamilton.

We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story,… We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.

This looks like Game of Thrones and Terminator Genisys star Emilia Clarke will not reprise her role as a younger Sarah Connor.

The movie will be produced by James Cameron in partnership with Skydance. The story is currently being hammered out by both Cameron and Miller in what is planned to be the first of a new trilogy. With the news of Linda Hamilton returning I’m even more excited to see how this movie shapes up. Stay tuned with us here at Bounding Into Comics for more news!
