The CW’s Supergirl Casts Saturn Girl!

The CW’s Supergirl found their Saturn Girl in Bollywood star Amy Jackson.

This will be British-born actress Amy Jackson’s first U.S. role. She starred in a number of Bollywood films including Madrasapattinam, Diya, Theri, and Singh is Bliing.

Saturn Girl first debuted in Adventure Comics #247 back in 1958. She was a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. If you are not familiar with the Legion of Super-Heroes, they are a DC Comics super hero team set in the far future of the DC Universe. In fact, Saturn Girl was born in the 30th century. The Legion of Super-Heroes also consisted of Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy. The team was founded after the trio saved billionaire R.J. Brande from assassination. Brande inspired by their heroism and 20th century superhero Superboy bankrolled the Legion of Super-Heroes.

This isn’t the first time Saturn Girl will appear in live-action. She appeared in a Smallville episode alongside other Legion of Super-Heroes teammates Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad.

Supergirl’s Saturn Girl also known as Imra Ardeen will be a recurring character on the show. She is described as “a kind, smart, and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need. She was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and arrives on Earth to help Supergirl battle one of her biggest threats.”

Supergirl introduced us to Mon-El last season and his character was connected to Saturn Girl in the comics. In fact, Saturn Girl was able to use her telepathy to hear Mon-El’s cries for help and became instrumental in locating him. It’s unclear whether or not Mon-El will play a role in Saturn Girl’s introduction on Supergirl.

Are you excited to see Saturn Girl appear on Supergirl? Do you think we will get to see any more members of the Legion of Super-Heroes? Could Superboy-Prime and his Legion of Super-Villains show up?
