Zack Snyder Talks Justice League, Confirms Next Feature Film

What’s on the horizon

In a new interview with Wired, Zack Snyder delves into his involvement in Justice League as well as his next couple films. Currently, Snyder is in post-production on a short film shot entirely on an iPhone. Entitled Snow Steam Iron,  the film is a 4-minute revenge story made by Snyder’s usual suspects.

Here’s a trailer Snyder posted earlier this month.

The director says making the film has been, “a cathartic experience for all of us in a weird way because when we all get together it’s easier for us to make a movie than talk.” In the wake of his daughter’s passing earlier this year, Snyder decided to leave this fall’s Justice League. Joss Whedon was brought on board to finish what Snyder had started.

Just who is the captain now?

Rumors have been all over the place in regards to Snyder’s involvement in Justice League. Is he still Godfathering the project in some way? Is he looking over Whedon’s shoulders?

The answer is a definitive no. Snyder says, “…I’ve kind of just let them do their thing.”

While he’s remained on the sidelines he still has encouraging things to say, “I’m at a place where I feel excited about it and I’m happy for my guys and I love these people that are working on it, and they’re my family and I think they’re doing an amazing job.”

A class act through and through. The tragedy that Snyder has had to endure is almost unfathomable. It’s endearing that he’s found a way to cope with his grief, surrounded by friends and family. We should all be so lucky.

On to the next one

Later in the article, Snyder confirms his next feature film. Surprisingly, it’s not some major blockbuster. It’s a drama by the name of The Last Photograph, which has been in pre-production since the release of 300. To work on something so small is a vacation for Snyder. This and his iPhone project are returns to the scale of his early work. A breather from the behemoths of his last decade.

Justice League was Zack Snyder’s 4th, 100 million dollar plus superhero film for Warner Brothers. The foundation was shaky but he created the pillars on which this new Universe will stand. Whether or not you were a fan of his work, his style is unmistakably captivating.

The energy and devotion he and his wife Deborah have had for WB and the DC Universe is remarkable, and worthy of anyone’s admiration.
