Major Spoiler: How Superman Returns in Justice League

Superman Henry Cavill

With the Justice League premiere behind us and early screenings underway, some major spoilers from the movie are leaking out. One of the most well kept secrets by Warner Bros. was how Superman would return for the film after his death at the hands of Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s not a secret anymore!

**SPOILERS BELOW**

Superman’s resurrection requires a number of factors. The first is the Genesis Pool from his Kryptonian ship, where Lex Luthor brought to life Doomsday using Zod’s dead body.

The Justice League will also need an Apokoliptian Motherbox. We got hints of the Motherboxes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well. One is very visible when Dr. Silas Stone attempts to keep his son alive. He describes the Motherbox as US Gov object 61982 and then we see it bond with his son Victor Stone, who goes on to become Cyborg.

The final ingredient or factor is a spark from The Flash. From multiple trailers we’ve seen that Barry’s speed abilities seem to generate lightning or at least some form of electricity when he runs.

Once the Justice League realizes just how powerful Steppenwolf is they quickly realize they are outmatched and need Superman to even the odds.

The League takes their knowledge on how to resurrect Superman and begins putting it to use. They dig up Superman’s body and combine the above ingredients/factors to bring the Man of Steel back to life.

However, once he is revived Superman is in quite a bit of shock and is extremely confused about what happened and how he returned, not to mention how he died. After he’s able to gather his wits a little bit, he eventually joins the Justice League and teams up with them to take on Steppenwolf.

Official Justice League Synopsis
