Did Mark Ruffalo Spoil the Return of Two Dead Characters In Avengers: Infinity War?

Thanos and the Black Order

Who doesn’t love Mark Ruffalo’s take on The Hulk? Over the last few years, he’s given us a depth of the character that hasn’t been shown much. But he does have a talking problem. Mark Ruffalo just can’t keep his mouth shut when it comes to Avengers: Infinity War spoilers and his latest spoiler revolves around the return of two characters thought long dead.

Ruffalo was on actor Michael Rapaport’s podcast where he talked about his role in the Avengers among other subjects. But it gets really interesting at the 50:40 mark. Here he’s asked who he’s recently enjoyed working with. Not an unusual question. It’s his response that raises some eyebrows. He said that the two actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe he enjoyed recently working with were none other than Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton.  While Cate Blanchett’s mention could be referring to her role as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, Tilda Swinton definitely did not appear in Thor: Ragnarok. The last we saw of her Ancient One character it was clear she was dead.

Ruffalo also has never worked with Swinton on a movie before. Could Ruffalo have revealed the return of the Ancient One in the upcoming Avengers movies?

But let’s also take a deeper look at Cate Blanchett. The two didn’t actually share any scenes together in Thor: Ragnarok. While it’s likely they ran into each other on set, it’s interesting Ruffalo says he enjoyed working with her. You would think that would  mean actually doing at least a scene together. It’s been highly rumored that Hela did not die at the hands of Surtur and she will play Death’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and become Thanos’ love interest and his reason for seeking out the Infinity Gauntlet.

It could be possible we see the return of both of these character. But in what capacity, we don’t know yet. It’s possible we might see the Ancient One in a Flashback. We also know that Avengers 4 will most likely involve time travel. Dr. Strange might seek the Ancient One out in the past after the Avengers are roundly defeated by Thanos.

Another possibility could be a resurrection with the Soul Stone. We haven’t seen it appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have no idea what kind of power it could grant its user.

If the Avengers were also to get their hands on a fully powered Infinity Gauntlet anything is possible.
