WATCH: Batman Ninja Anime Trailer Debuts Creepy Samurai Joker!

Warner Bros. and DC Comics just rolled out the trailer for Batman Ninja.

Take a look:

Batman Ninja was originally announced at New York Comic this year by Junpei Mizusaki, Takashi Okazashi, and Kazuki Nakashima. The team behind Batman Ninja are excited about the project and with good reason based off the trailer. “When we want to make it look real, we actually do it in real life. We want it to be true to life,” said Mizusaki at New York Comic Con. He added they used live-action performers for the fight scenes and recorded the choreography so the animators could use it as a reference point.

As you can see in the trailer, Batman will face long-time nemesis Joker and his psychotic partner Harley Quinn. However, Batman isn’t alone. There are clips of Dick Grayson’s Nightwing and Damian Wayne’s Robin. There are also appear to be appearances by Red Hood. However, instead of a full mask he dons a red bandanna and a big shotgun. Catwoman also makes an appearance as she goes toe to toe with Harley Quinn.

But Joker and Harley Quinn aren’t the only villains showing up. The trailer alludes to Two-Face with his iconic coin flip. Nightwing clashes with Penguin. His cameo can be hard to miss, but he has his monocle and elongated nose. Interestingly, Gorilla Grodd might also be appearing. It’s hard to tell if it’s him, but there is a giant gorilla in Samurai garb. There’s also a woman with pink hair that might be Poison Ivy as she launches into a crazed attack with her own Samurai sword.

The anime looks to provide an exciting new entry into the Batman mythos. The Joker will definitely push Batman to his limit and his more modern rule of no killing. The Joker taunts Batman, “Heroes don’t dare to kill. But I can do anything to end your life here, Batman.”
