Every Star Wars: The Last Jedi Celebrity Cameo Revealed!

In case you didn’t know, Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out in theaters tomorrow night! It’s going to be one of the biggest releases in film history. And by all accounts, the film’s going to be great. But now that The Last Jedi is finally being released little easter eggs are making their way into public knowledge.
Major blockbusters, especially those of Star Wars and Disney productions, are known for having celebrity cameos. Sometimes they happen because the actor loves the franchise or film but hasn’t been cast; sometimes it happens because a famous actor is filming something nearby and it would make for a cool story. Star Wars: The Force Awakens had many such cameos. It should then come as no surprise that The Last Jedi is filled with them as well. Now that most of the secrets are out Comicbook.com compiled a list of the celebrities who found their way into the film.
Tom Hardy and the Royal Family
This is probably the most discussed of all the cameos. At one point in the film, Finn will be escorted by four First Order Stormtroopers. Those Stormtroopers just so happen to be Tom Hardy, Prince William, Prince Harry, and English singer Gary Barlow. The troupe of British celebrities follow in the footsteps of Daniel Craig, who played the Stormtrooper that frees Rey in The Force Awakens.
Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One
Believe it or not, Star Wars fans have seen Rian Johnson before. He actually cameo’d in Star Wars: Rogue One as a Rebel trooper. In The Last Jedi, Edwards was given the chance to cameo for Rian Johnson in the form of a Resistance Fighter preparing for the big battle on the planet Crait.
Warwick Davis
Warwick Davis is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. In fact, he made his first appearance in Return of the Jedi when he was just 11 years old. Since then he’s been a staple of the Universe, as well as several other projects including Willow. To the surprise of no one Warwick Davis once again finds himself in a Star Wars film. On the casino planet of Canto Bight, Davis depicts one of the many aliens in the casino.
Justin Theroux
Justin Theroux is awesome. He’s worked with a wide plethora directors from David Lynch to David Gordon Green. He’s a prolific actor, who just so happened to write Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2. Apparently now he can count Star Wars among his many credits as he plays a significant part in the film as a gambler Finn has to interact with on Canto Bight.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Noah Segan
From right to left: Noah Segan, Rian Johnson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The three have been making films together since 2005’s Brick. The film remains one of the most unique American films of the last 20 years. It will continue to get Rian Johnson many, many directorial gigs in part thanks to the performances of Noah Segan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It makes sense that Johnson would want his lucky charms around once again for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Segan gets most of the screen-time as a rebel pilot who gets in the cockpit of an X-wing. JGL, probably due to his busy schedule, was only able to appear in the form of a voice-over.
The Greatest Franchise in Film History
If they keep making Star Wars films there will continue to be people dying to be in them. It’s the most famous film franchise in history. In fact, it’s the most successful original film franchise in history. Because Star Wars is entirely what film is about. Heart, action, suspense, and humor. Family may be what Star Wars believes it has at its core, but that is no longer true. There’s only one Skywalker family, and the world of Star Wars is much bigger than them.
Tomorrow, one of the biggest films of all time will make its way into theaters. It’s probably going to be controversial; it’s probably going to be incredible. Audience members likely won’t be able to spot any of these famous cameos, as they’re often hidden behind make-up and masks. But cameos or not the film and its performances are going to stand for itself.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a lot to say. Time to give it a listen.
