Andy Serkis Believes There’s a Possibility Snoke Might Return for Episode IX!

Snoke

Andy Serkis recently spoke with Slash Film about his upcoming role as Ulysses Klaue in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. However, the topic turned to Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Serkis’ role as Supreme Leader Snoke.

Serkis hinted at the possibility of reprising his role as Supreme Leader Snoke in the upcoming sequel directed by J.J. Abrams:

Look, it’s Star Wars, so you never know how life, or whether life can be come back to or not. Whether you can be resuscitated or brought back. I was shocked. Dramatically, it felt absolutely right for that moment in the film, so I didn’t question it. I just think it’s a very, very important scene, so I didn’t question it. But I do, I know it’s left fans feeling like, that they were really searching for something there. And what I’m saying is, who knows?

Serkis did tell Slash Film that he had not spoken with J.J. Abrams, who will  not only be directing the upcoming sequel, but is also co-writing it.

Slash Film’s Ben Pearson believes it is possible Snoke could show up in the next movie. He offers his own theory based on Luke’s astral projection seen in The Last Jedi.

“What if he’s so powerful in the ways of the Force that he was projecting not just an astral projection, but a physical version of himself into that throne room?”

My own theory could be that Snoke has studied the ways of the Nightsisters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and improved upon their practices. Old Daka resurrects the fallen Nightsisters to aid Ventress in her fight against Dooku and Greivous.

But what might be an even more interesting theory, is that Supreme Leader Snoke rediscovered the powers of Darth Plagueis. He did what Palpatine and Anakin were not able to do. Palpatine describes Darth Plagueis’ powers to Anakin, “He could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.” He continues, “The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.” However, Palpatine does add, “Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic, he could save others from death, but not himself.”

It’s possible Supreme Leader Snoke could have learned Darth Plagueis Dark Side secrets to not only keep the ones he cared about from dying, but to also ensure he could not be killed either. The Last Jedi showed us Supreme Leader Snoke is extremely powerful in the Dark Side. He was able to mentally bridge Kylo Ren and Rey despite them being light years apart.

Another possibility could be a flip of what we recently saw on Star Wars Rebels. The Empire uses the bones of Luminara Unduli to bait Jedi. They make her appear to be alive in order to trap and exterminate them. The First Order could spread a myth that Supreme Leader Snoke is still alive. Kylo Ren might be able to even Force project his own version of Snoke to spread fear through the galaxy and maintain control of the First Order.

What do you think? Do you think J.J. Abrams will bring Supreme Leader Snoke back? If he does, how could he return?
