Watch: Justice League Mid and Post Credit Scenes

Deathstroke

Justice League arrived on Digital HD this past week and the Mid and Post Credit scenes have made their way online.

The first Mid Credits scene features Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen also known as The Flash racing against Henry Cavill’s Superman.

It’s a classic setup from the comics that has been done on a number of occasions. The Flash and Superman have raced in Superman #199, The Flash #175, World’s Finest #198 and #199, Adventures of Superman #463, Flash #53, DC 1st #1, and even more recently in The Flash #34 and Titans #7. The scene has also been featured in DC Comics animated series Superman: The Animated Series in “Speed Demons.” Needless to say it’s an absolutely iconic moment between the Flash and Superman and was a fun little clip to include in Justice League.

While the race between the Flash and Superman was light-hearted and didn’t hint at any possibilities to come for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), the actual post-credits scene revealed major implications for the future of the DCEU. The scene showcased Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor had escaped from Arkham Asylum and left a decoy in his place. Then we see a shot of Deathstroke arriving on Luthor’s yacht.

Luthor welcomes Deathstroke saying, “Ah! There he is. Welcome aboard. Care for a glass of of Gout de Diamants? I was just celebrating God’s return out of the ground and back up into the sky. He and his odd little friends are forming some sort of league.”

Deathstroke interrupts the chatty Luthor, “You better not be wasting my time.”  It quickly gets Luthor to get to the point, “No. I have too much to live for and more important things to do.  We have to level the playing field, Mr. Wilson. To put it plainly, shouldn’t we have a league of our own?”

The scene not only introduces us to Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, but it also sets up one DC Comics most infamous criminal groups, the Legion of Doom. It might have been the moment from Justice League. It revealed a whole world of potential and a threat that might be even greater than Marvel’s Thanos. A league of super villains that can match the mightiest of DC Comics’ superheroes.

Now, we can only hope DC Entertainment lives up to that promise and begins to develop the Legion of Doom in their upcoming films!
