Mega movie star Chris Pratt, who stars as Star-Lord in Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy and Owen Grady in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, tweeted out he was praying for Kevin Smith, who recently suffered a near life-ending heart attack last night.

Pratt tweeted, “Kevin we don’t know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?”

The Tweet drew out the worst of the internet who began attacking Chris Pratt and his faith.

Pratt didn’t seem bothered by the attacks and doubled down that he would continue to pray for Kevin Smith tweeting, “Praying for you. I will continue to. You inspired me with Clerks when I was a senior HS. I’m tagging my Lb/rb football coach who showed me the movie cause he believed in me and knew I’d be inspired.”

Others backed Chris Pratt and stood with him and said they were praying for Kevin Smith.

Some even revealed their own stories and miracles they witnessed through the power of prayer.

It’s a sad state in our society when people like Chris Pratt who openly announce they are praying for someone who just suffered a near-death heart attack are ridiculed and attacked for believing in God and the power of prayer. The free exercise of religion is one of our founding principles. It’s clearly stated in the First Amendment to the Constitution, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Our country was founded by people who were fleeing religious persecution. We need to honor the tradition of religious freedom and respect people’s extremely personal beliefs. It’s one of our core traditions that truly makes America Great.
