James Gunn and Mark Hamill Tease Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Role!

Sometime a few nights ago, the Twitter accounts of three individuals were active in possibly making movie history.

A twitter user @ianfee invoked the name of Mark Hamill @HamillHimself in a tweet to the Guardians of the Galaxy Director. He essentially acting as Hamill’s agent in the tweet, Gunn replied stating he lived down the street from Mark and could discuss it over coffee, if he wanted. Then Hamill chimed in and wanted to know if it was a serious offer. Actually, just read the thread of tweets here.

Not only did Gunn and Hamill hint at a potential role for Mark Hamill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn also took to Facebook Live where he took a number of fan questions. One of those questions involved the origins of Rocket Raccoon. It’s possible Gunn might find a place for Hamill in Rocket’s origins.

In the comics, The Stranger experimented on Rocket Raccoon before he escaped. It’s possible Hamill could end up as the Stranger. Another possibility could be another motion capture character. Rocket originally had a first mate named Wal Rus who helped him protect the planet Halfworld. Hamill is a decorated voice actor so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he joined Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper to give his voice to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 world.

While the original Tweet might have been about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn also introduced us to the Ravagers led by Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord or Starhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Gunn has teased doing a solo movie featuring these characters and it’s quite possible Hamill could end up in a Ravagers movie as well.

It would definitely be awesome to see Hamill show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I know I would love to see him part of it.

What role would you want to see Hamill take on if he shows up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the potential Ravagers solo film? I think he would be perfect as the mad scientist who experiments on Rocket Raccoon even if they don’t use the Stranger. His performance as the Trickster on The CW’s The Flash exemplifies the absolute insanity he can bring to a character.
