Filming is well under way for David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! movie. Just yesterday, we got to see a video of Zachary Levi’s Shazam appear to rescue a number of civilians from a bus.

Today, we get to see Mark Strong’s Doctor Sivana in action. You can see him menacingly walk toward Levi’s Shazam who appears to have been blasted onto the hood of the police vehicle. As he strides forward, we also see him wave his left hand out and send the approaching police officers flying backwards. Strong’s Sivana then stands above Shazam (off screen and blocked by the police car). It looks like he is giving him a pretty healthy talking to. But Shazam won’t be kept down. He pops up towards the end of the video.

Watch:

Doctor Thaddeus Bodog Sivana Sr. is one of Captain Marvel aka Shazam’s most frequent foes. He’s an intelligent and dangerous scientist who has a mind for politics. Not only that, but he’s also rather wealthy and is involved in organized crime.

Based on this footage it also appears Sivana will have either acquired some kind of mystical artifact to give himself powers or he has invented a device that allows him to send the police officers flying.

Strong discussed Dr. Sivana when he confirmed the roll while speaking at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil OVO at The Royal Albert Hall in London:

“I’m playing an evil bastard called Doctor Sivana, they are always the best characters to play, the most fun. I was Sinestro in Green Lantern which I though was a rather good film but it didn’t do what they wanted so I feel like I’ve got unfinished business in the DC world, I played a pretty evil character in that and he was meant to get even worse in the second one but that never happened but I think I’m going to get the chance to do that in ‘Shazam!’, I hope so.”

And Strong did put on a good performance as Sinestro in Green Lantern and I have no doubt he will be a stand out villain in the DC Extended Universe.

Shazam! will hit theaters on April 5, 2019.
