Japanese Avengers: Infinity War TV Spot Takes Us Back to the Past

The new Japanese TV spot for Avengers: Infinity War, takes us back to the past of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to prepare us for the future.

The clip starts with the exciting action sequence from the beginning of the Avengers: Age of Ultron, then quickly jumps to The Avengers and the Battle of New York.

We then get a number of character introductions of the original Avengers line-up including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk.

After introducing the characters, we get a brief clip of Thor yelling at Ultron, “Is that the best you can do?” It then transitions to showcase some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newer heroes including Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. We then see Thanos clutching the Infinity Gauntlet. Then Iron Man looks up in terror at the Mad Titan and finally we get the heroic battle scene with the Captain America  leading the forces of Wakanda to do battle against Thanos and his armies.

Even in this Japanese TV spot that highlights the team members from the original Avengers line-up, Marvel Studios leaves out Hawkeye. Granted we do see him in the team shots. However, he didn’t get his own spotlight.

It’s possible the reason Hawkeye has been left out of the promotional material is that he’s officially retired from the Avengers again following the events of Captain America: Civil War.

In the Avengers: Infinity War Prelude comic Captain America rescues his team of the Raft. Instead of rejoining the team with Captain America, Clint Barton tells everyone “I am officially retired now.” He then returns to his family and enjoys a quiet life with his wife and kids.

However, it’s more than likely that Captain America will bring Clint Barton back out of retirement again as he did in Captain America: Civil War. Or it’s possible he sees the invading forces of Thanos and decides to come out of retirement himself. Regardless, he is expected to show up in the film.

Other Avengers left out of the international teaser include Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Falcon.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out on April 27, 2018.
