Russo Brothers Talk Fantastic Four Possibilities in Avengers: Infinity War!

Fantastic Four

The upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is filled to the brim with Marvel’s superheros. But with the upcoming Fox/Disney merger and the recent incorporation of Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe many hoped we could see the Fantastic Four or the X-Men show up to help the Avengers battle Thanos and his villainous Black Order.

I mean the movie is already overflowing with the biggest line up of heroes I could ever remember, so why not? Well, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are here to dash everyone’s dreams of seeing the Fantastic Four in Avengers: Infinity War.

In a conversation with Comicbook.com Joe and Anthony Russo took some time to talk about whether or not Marvel’s first family would show up in Avengers: Infinity War. Joe definitely closed the door on that prospect and put the blame on Fox for them not being incorporated:

“I’m sure, when we sat around at dinners, after a few drinks, we’ve all laughed and said, ‘Hey. It’d be great to go after this person, or that person.’ We know how the business is structured. I’m sure Marvel would love to work with all those characters. It’s whether who owns them would be willing.”

Of course, it’s always about that burning issue of who owns the rights. In the past, this has hindered many characters who normally interact with each other in the comics from doing so on screen.

Anthony Russo added his own thoughts:

“Every character. All the deals are hard. Everybody’s expensive. It’s very complicated to put together a movie of this scale. Sometimes, it’s easier to say, ‘Maybe, we should just not do it with these …'”

While the Fantastic Four won’t be involved in Avengers: Infinity War, the Russo Brothers have a plethora of Marvel characters that will be involved including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Gamora, Nebula, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and more.

And while we won’t see the Fantastic Four this time around that’s not to say we won’t see them in the future. Kevin Feige has revealed a massive line-up of Marvel Studios projects in the works and if the Disney/Fox merger goes through I’d bet we will see the Fantastic Four sooner rather than later.

Do you want to see the Fantastic Four added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? How do you think they should be incorporated? If the Disney/Fox merger goes through do you want Marvel Studios to incorporate the Fantastic Four and X-Men or should they operate in separate universes?
