These last few days have been a rollercoaster for Deadpool 2 and the movie even hasn’t premiered yet! As you might remember, it was reported that the first series of test screenings weren’t all that positive. It was reported that 20th Century Fox even sent some letters to Twitter users demanding that they take down their comments about the test screenings.

But it looks like this latest round of screenings have fared better. A report by The Hollywood Reporter indicates the initial fear of doom for the film was premature. In the report, it was stated that the sequel scored higher than even the original film!

When diving into it, they’re saying that the filmscored as high as 98 in recent screenings. The first two reported screenings came out at 91 and 97 respectively with the latest happening in Dallas, Texas. In that screening, two separate cuts were screened at the same time. One received a 98 and the other a 94. That is amazing!

We know that Deadpool has been undergoing some reshoots, with Josh Brolin, who plays Cable, and Brianna Hildebrand, who plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead confirming the reshoots. Brianna Hildebrand even disputed the earlier reports of the movie not performing well in test screenings.

It’s good to keep in mind that Deadpool 2 had six days of reshoots in Vancouver. While the original film had nine days of reshoots in total. So it definitely doesn’t look to be doom and gloom for the movie. Fox definitely seemed confident in the film when they moved its release date up from June to May. If that’s not confidence in your product, I don’t know what is.

I know I’m going to head to the theaters right after work to see the movie.

Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular character. Josh Brolin as Cable and  Zazie Beetz as Domino. Julian Dennison, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Stefan Kapicic, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Terry Crews also co-star.

Deadpool 2 makes it to theaters on May 18th!
