I’m sure most of you have noticed the extremes taken by certain political factions in the United States since the 2016 election. Since Donald Trump has taken office, many in Hollywood seem to be unable to accept the results of the election. Not a day goes by when a celebrity talks about the fall of America or the Russian menace.

The latest perpetrator is The Avengers director Joss Whedon. But Whedon’s latest tweet ups the ante and calls for the death of President Donald Trump.

He writes, “Donald Trump is killing this country. Some of it quickly, some slowly, but he spoils and destroys everything he touches. He emboldens monsters, wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia. My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don, Just quietly die.”

It has been no secret that before and during the last election cycle, much of Hollywood was throwing their weight behind the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. And it seems since her defeat, many are still quite shell-shocked. Though Joss Whedon arguably is an extremely talented filmmaker and artist, posts like these combined with accusations from his former wife show a darker side to the director.

Many on the right have a name for the condition that Mr. Whedon and others on the left have. It’s been dubbed “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Similar to the Obama Kenyan Syndrome created by the Clinton Campaign in 2008 and adopted by the right after President Obama’s election victory. It seeks to invalidate people based on traits or problems that simply don’t exist.

Of course, Joss Whedon isn’t alone. Any simple Google search will turn up countless examples of tin foil conspiracy theories against the current president based on half-truths and hearsay.

This normally wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t for one problem. The same problem I’ve written about in the past. The issue of Hollywood’s desire to carry the mantle of morality while not living up to any sort of standard. Just look at the current sexual harassment scandal surrounding a number of producers and actors. Harvey Weinstein is the most obvious perpetrator, but The Flash showrunner Andrew Kreisberg was also fired for sexual harassment accusations.  Warner Bros. also ended their deal with Brett Ratner’s RatPac-Dune Entertainment production company after he was accused of sexual misconduct by Olivia Munn and five other women. Even Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot weighed in on Ratner.

Their version of “Play for Pay” is tantamount to sex slavery, if you don’t put out, you’re out of the business.

Now combine that with their wild acceptance of child predators in their fold. I sure as heck don’t believe that people like Joss Whedon or anyone in the industry should be casting any stones. Especially when their houses are made of glass. This is absolutely disgusting and quite honestly shocking behavior.
