The DC Films Universe has been plagued with rumors following the lead in to Justice League last year. It only escalated as Justice League failed to meet box office expectations. One of the more prominent rumors was that Ben Affleck would exit the role of Batman in the upcoming Flash movie which is expected to adopt the Flashpoint timeline and potentially reset the DC Films Universe.

One of the big name actors rumored to replace Affleck was Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jake Gyllenhaal addressed those rumors in a recent interview with CNA Lifestyle.

At about the 1:30 mark Gyllenhaal is asked if he will be the next Batman.

He responds, “Wow that’s a very difficult question! The answer to that question is no.”

That definitely takes Jake Gyllenhaal off the list of potential actors to replace Ben Affleck as Batman.

Affleck is not expected to star in director Matt Reeves upcoming The Batman movie. The latest information has Affleck departing the Batman role either in Suicide Squad 2 or the upcoming FLashpoint movie.

With Gyllenhaal out that would seemingly make Jon Hamm the frontrunner for the role. Last December, reports came in that Hamm was jockeying to become the next Batman.

Although Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently intimated he had ideas on how he would play Batman. Morgan portrayed Thomas Wayne in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Many have speculated that if Morgan becomes Batman it would be the Thomas Wayne Flashpoint version of the character. That version of Batman is much more vicious and has no qualms putting criminals down with his pistols. However, it might be possible that Morgan might actually be in the running to become the next Bruce Wayne for Reeves’ The Batman.

With Gyllenhaal out who do you want to play Batman?
