New Avengers: Infinity War TV Spot Shows an Emotionally Beaten Thor

Marvel released a brand new 30 second Avengers: Infinity War clip which gives us a ton of new looks at Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
The clip starts off showing an inverted New York City, before the camera eventually pans to show the city right side up. Then we get to see Doctor Strange show up in what looks like Central Park to ask for Tony Stark’s help. Doctor Strange appears out of one of his portals and says, “Tony Stark, we need your help.” We then get a decent montage of previous footage. We see what’s most likely an invasion ship crash land near Wakanda, Bruce Banner warns, “Thanos is coming,” and Thanos clenches his fist with the Power and Space Stones in his Infinity Gauntlet.
The clip then put on a tragic tone. Rocket Raccoon looks terribly depressed when he asks, “Are you sure you’re up for this?” We then get a cut of Gamora before Thor seemingly answers Rocket, “What more could I lose?” And then Marvel might actually hint at some characters who might die by showing us Scarlet Witch and Vision in a touching moment. It then cuts back to Rocket who says, “Personally, I could lose a lot.”
As the teaser ramps up, we get clips of a ton of Marvel’s superheroes with Spider-Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Spider-Man again, Black Widow, Thor, Doctor Strange, Okoye, Scarlet Witch, Thor again, Vision, Star-Lord, and Hulk are showcased in brief action shots. The trailer comes to a close with Tony Stark saying, “It’s all been leading to this.”
Maybe the biggest moment is the clip is the conversation between Rocket and Thor. We know Thor will suffer a significant loss. Marvel showed us the clip of the Guardians rescuing him from space. He’s just floating in wreckage before they pull him in. We’ve also seen Thanos have his head in a vice grip. Thor’s questions more than likely refers to the destruction of the Asgardian refugee ship which he moved the people onto at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. However, if some theories prove out, he could also be referring to the death of his brother Loki at the hands of Thanos. Loki failed Thanos during The Avengers where he failed to bring Earth to heel. Thanos doesn’t take too kindly to failure if you remember his speech to Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Avengers: Infinity War is out this week on April 27, 2018.
