Avengers: Infinity War Writers Explain Why Captain Marvel Was Chosen for Post-Credit Scene!

Avengers: Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed the reason why they chose to include Captain Marvel in the post-credit scene for Avengers: Infinity War instead of Ant-Man or the Wasp.
In a wide-ranging interview with Collider Markus explained, “We thought, ‘do you want to give any hope?” We wanted primarily not to because we didn’t want you to go, ‘Ah they’re going to get out of jail free.’ It’s a tragedy and tragedies end in a grim and sad way.” McFeely added, “We want you to sit with those eight, ten minutes of credits, owning that movie and then just give you a little.”
Markus chimed in, “When you end it like that, there aren’t too many extra places you can go.” He continued, “A lot of the time Marvel’s tags have pointed to the next movie coming. The next movie is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which by the nature of that franchise is light-hearted and you don’t wanna go, ‘but meanwhile! Remember Paul Rudd – still adorable! Tonally everything was wrong.’”
McFeely concluded, “We wanted to give a little hope to people. And that was the best way we could think of to do it.”
Well there you have it. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely chose to include Captain Marvel in the post-credit scene in order to give the audience a sense of hope after the utter devastation wreaked by Thanos, the Black Order, and their minions throughout Avengers: Infinity War.
