A Twitter user has leaked alleged set photos from Wonder Woman 2 that show off a garage full of classic vehicles including an old school Washington D.C. fire engine. There are also Volvos, an old Ford station wagon, an old school Ford F-150 pickup truck, and more.

The Twitter user reports these vehicles were photographed in Landmark Mall.

The user claims they were lucky to avoid security.

If you are familiar with the Northern Virginia area, you might recognize Landmark Mall. It first opened on August 4, 1965 and was the first mall in the Washington, D.C. area. It featured three department stores including Hecht’s, Sears and Roebuck and Woodward & Lothrop. The Mall was initially outdoors, but was enclosed in 1990. It has currently been transformed into an “urban-town,” and two of the major department stores remain vacant. Only Sears remains.

Rumors about the era of the movie began swirling back in October when Omega Underground reported the film would take place during the Cold War.This rumor was seemingly confirmed when DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and director Patty Jenkins changed their Twitter background photos to WW84. Many believed this was confirmation the film would take place in the 1980s.

WW84

Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the era at CinemaCon stating, “[Wonder Woman is an] optimistic and positive character. This film set in the 80’s, she has to deal with the temptation of our world, and face extraordinary odds.”

While the movie looks to be set during the waning years of the Cold War, it also looks like it might be an homage to George Orwell’s classic novel 1984. The novel is set in the year 1984 where the world’s population are victims of perpetual war, an omnipresent government surveillance state and intense propaganda used to manipulate citizens. The government uses secret police to persecute individualism and independent thinking. The novel also introduced powerful governments manipulating history in order to control their citizens.

The film will also feature Kristen Wiig as the primary antagonist, Cheetah. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cheetah’s origin is retconned and she’s some kind of Soviet Union agent.

What do you make of these new set photos? Are you excited to see Wonder Woman 2 set in the 1980s?
