Ant-Man and The Wasp’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Announced

Ant-Man and The Wasp

We are a little over a week away from the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp. The world premiere for the film is behind us and Rotten Tomatoes has released their initial critic score for the film.

The film comes in at an 89% on the Tomatometer with an average rating of 7/10 from 57 reviews.

What the Critics are Saying

David Edelstein at New York Magazine/Vulture writes: The payoffs aren’t plot points but the gags, which somehow defuse the tension without turning the picture into camp.

Julian Roman at MovieWeb writes, “Ant-Man and the Wasp brings humor and levity back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s loaded with incredible action scenes, really amping up the visual effects from the first film.”

Joanna Langfield of The Movie Minute says, “no sting here: this one’s a big, happy hit.

Mark Ellis of Schmoes Know adds, “Almost as enjoyable as the first. Not quite the same impact, but a good ride from start to finish.

However, not everyone had praise for the film.

David Crow from Den of Geek writes, “The basic necessities of narrative momentum are given the requisite focus and care that in better properties can produce exceptional Marvel entertainments…but in the case of Ant-Man, words like “basic” and “requisite” are always the ceiling.”

Will Leitch at Paste Magazine writes, “Occasionally agreeable but ultimately disposable, [it’s] a bauble that feels like a fun side journey and more like a waste of everybody’s time.

Darren Franich at Entertainment Weekly says, “This is one of those Marvel products peddling self-aware detachment as a defining narrative strategy..It feels less like a feature film than a meme somebody made about an Ant-Man trailer.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, Michael Peña as Luis, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Abby Ryder Fortson as Cassie Lang, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, T.I as Dave, and Bobby Canavale as Paxton. The film is directed by Peyton Reed.

Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
