The Star Wars Universe is growing pretty quickly these days. Just as some spin-offs might be undergoing some changes, a new animated series is set to premiere this Fall! In April, Lucasfilm confirmed a few details about their upcoming show. The series will star a Resistance pilot named Kazuda Xiono. He’ll be on a top secret mission facing off against the First Order! The series will apparently feature both Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma. Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie are set to reprise their roles in the animated show. Now thanks to a leak from a French Disney event, we have our first unofficial look at the show.
Creator Dave Filoni’s next entry into the Star Wars story is set to premiere this October on the Disney Channel.

Interesting designs. A dark portrait of a character that looks a lot like Captain Phasma looms over the First Order. And could that be Poe at the top left of the second image? He sure looks the part. The other characters are just as intriguing as those we already know. There should be no doubt that Dave Filoni will make this band of merry misfits an interesting crew for the show. So other than two of Hollywood’s hottest actors, who’s joining Filoni for his latest journey?
A Cast for the Crew
Athena Portillo and Justin Ridge are servicing as Executive Producers for the show. Not surprising considering they helped bring Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels to life. Brandon Aumon will also Executive Produce and Rebels and Clone Wars art director Amy Beth Christenson will do the same for this show. Filoni clearly has a team he knows and trusts and it’s great to seem them coming back together for this new show.
Those Disney and Star Wars veterans have more than a few fans excited for the new show. Luckily, they have a star-studded cast to help bring the new animated series to audible life.
Aside from the two live-action Star Wars actors, the voice cast has quite a few exciting names! The previously-announced cast features: Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco, Josh Brener, Donald Faison, Bobby Moynihan, Jim Rash, and Rachel Butera.
Donald Faison and Bobby Moynihan are some of television’s greats. And Jim Rash? He’s just an Academy Award-winning Screenwriter. More than a few names that make an already-hyped project even more exciting.
Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels added brand new characters, worlds, and plenty of story to the massive Star Wars Universe. Eventually even adding new connections to previous stories with characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Obi-Wan’s fight with Darth Maul. The potential of Filoni’s new show extends as far as his imagination. Hopefully, he’s got plenty of exciting ideas to make Star Wars: Resistance a worthy-successor to the Star Wars animated legacy.
