Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, threatened to quit the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 film if James Gunn’s script is not used.

Bautista just Tweeted on August 5th that he would do what he was “legally obligated to do.” However, that appears to have changed.

In an interview with Short List, Bautista declares, “Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing a James a disservice if I didn’t.”

Bautista informed Short List that the script for the film was completed and Gunn had already turned it in.

Gunn had hinted that the script was completed in a Tweet back in June.

Dave Bautista also told them:

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*** this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

Bautista also noted that he doesn’t think his protest will get James Gunn re-hired.

“I don’t think [it] will get him re-hired. But I hope it opens people’s eyes to James’ character.”

James Gunn was fired by Disney after dozens if not more Tweets involving pedophilia, child pornography, and molestation were uncovered. There was also a report that Gunn potentially was in the possession of child pornography and had been under investigation by the FBI. Gunn’s friend Huston Huddleston plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possessing child pornography after facing several other charges including contacting a minor in an attempt to commit a felony.

Most of the cast of the Guardians of the Galaxy threw their support behind James Gunn in an open letter last week. Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, even said he’d love to see him reinstated as director of Volume 3.”

Do you think Disney will use James Gunn’s script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Do you think Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will even be made?
