Stan Lee’s Cause of Death Announced

Two weeks after Stan Lee tragically passed away his cause of death has been announced.

The legendary Marvel comic book creator reportedly died of heart failure and respiratory failure. According to his death certificate which was obtained by TMZ, it also indicates that Stan Lee suffered from aspiration pneumonia. Aspiration pneumonia occurs when you inhale food, stomach acid, or saliva into your lungs.

Stan tragically passed away on November 12th after he was rushed in an ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Stan, at the age of 95, had had some health scares earlier in the year. He previously battled pneumonia and informed his loving fans about his health in a video back in February.

Lee would tell his fans in that video that he dearly missed them.

“I want you all to know I’m thinking of you, of course, I always think of the fans, and I hope you’re all doing well, and I miss you all. I miss your enthusiasm, I miss all the notes, all the photos and emails I used to get and I still get a lot of them and I want you to know that I still love you all.”

TMZ also reports that Stan was cremated  and his ashes given to his daughter J.C. Lee.

After Lee’s tragic passing, many people expressed how the legendary Marvel Comics creator affected their lives for the better.

But one stands out ahead of the pack, and that is what Hugh Jackman had to say about Stan when he was speaking to MTV News:

Jackman praised Stan and described just how happy he was to see his creations and the joy they brought to people.

“I was really taken back by how relaxed and happy and I got the sense of a man who had become a god within a subculture and this subculture had become mainstream and at age 75, getting respect and adulation. And he was like, ‘I can’t believe this. This is amazing. We’re the kids in our basement drawing pictures and we know a few people and then 30,000 of us get together, there’s 30,000 of us dressing up and there’s Star Wars.’ Now there’s a million and a half and all of a sudden, everyone’s courting them.”

“Movie studios, everybody was courting them, and you just got the sense that he’s a kid in the candy store who still loves it. He’s like a kid. He was just really warm. Like, he would turn up to do all those cameos, thinking, ‘This is the greatest, I’m in an X-Men movie, they’re bringing this stuff that’s been in my head and on the page, they’re bringing it to life.”

Lee passed away at 95 years of age. He is survived by his daughter J.C. His wife Joan Lee passed last year after over fifty years of marriage to Lee.
