Will Amy Adams Return as Lois Lane in the DC Extended Universe?

Following recent reports that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill were leaving the DC Universe for greener pastures, a story Aquaman star Jason Momoa commented on recently, there could be another departure from the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) family.

Amy Adams conveyed her belief that she might be done as Lois Lane after five years. When asked, she said the following:

“I think I’m out of the DC Universe now. I think they’re revamping that. I don’t know the details.”

Her comments came in the most surprising of places, an interview conducted by Nicole Kidman, who stars in Aquaman as Queen Atlanna, for Variety’s Actors on Actors. The interview was shared on Twitter. You can view it below.

The sitdown is an interesting paradigm. Someone possibly leaving the DCEU welcomes someone back symbolically. Kidman’s history with DC goes back 20 years to Batman Forever and her role as Bruce Wayne’s love interest and shrink, Dr. Chase Meridian.

Amy Adams portrayed the love interest, or “key”, to Batman’s frenemy Superman in three movies. That she doesn’t know anything regarding her return to that role could be nothing more than lack of communication from Warner Bros.’ end. The studio may be inclined to keep Adams without having any plans for Lois Lane as of yet.

But, if Henry Cavill is out, it follows they might be looking for a new Lois too. In that case, it’s overkill to let go of Adams since she still can play the part. She might even be poised to show a whole different, feisty side to her take on Lois.

It’s actually been a while since we’ve seen the toughness of Lois Lane in live action. The last time any unalloyed semblance of the cocky journalist graced the screen was Erica Durance on Smallville.  Zack Snyder reverted Lois Lane to a damsel in distress most of the time.

What do you think? Is The DC Universe getting revamped like Amy Adams thinks? Are you sad to see her and Cavill go?
